MEMBER BENEFITS
As a community service organization, we work together to determine which areas we, as a group, find to be the areas of emphasis.
Once the emphasis areas are determined, we meet monthly to create a plan to making our common goals become reality. Members learn from each other in the area of leadership, organization and communication skills. Striving to meet our common goals, through each other we develop and grow.
Through our interaction, lasting friendships are formed. You are now friends working together to make a difference in your community.
MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES
In order to achieve our common goals, it is the member's responsibility to:
- Attend regular club meetings
- Participate in the community service projects and fund-raising events
- Pay club dues
- Have fun
Members must be at least 18 years old.
MEETINGS
Regular Club meetings are held monthly, August through May, on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. We conduct the business of the club, hold informative programs and promote camaraderie and friendship among our members.
Board meetings are held monthly, September through June on the 1st Tuesday of each month.
INTERNATIONAL MEMBERSHIP
As of member of the GFWC Tampa Junior Woman's Club, Inc, you are also a member of the GFWC Florida Federation of Women's Clubs (FFWC) and the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC).
Florida is divided into (14) districts and Tampa falls into District 8.
FFWC hosts two state meetings each year for its members; Fall Board (held in September) and Spring Convention (help in April or May). All members are invited and encouraged to attend these meetings each year in order to learn more about the greater impact their community service has on a collective whole in the GFWC organization. These events have been hosted in Orlando for the past several years and also serve as a “fun weekend” for our members to build stronger friendships in a relaxed social environment.
The district has annual meetings in the Spring and Fall. In February the district has an Arts and Crafts festival and all members are invited to submit their work for judging. In October, each district hosts the Officers for an annual tour.
